Hi,

I have just stumbled upon your blog from a google search that I did this evening. I love your site and your passion for BFing!! I find myself being quite passionate about it, as well. The reason that I am writing today is for a health related question, though.

I am currently BFing my 3 month old daughter Bree, and weaned my firstborn daughter Zoe when she was 18 months (almost a year ago). Zoe is currently very sick with a cold that she cannot seem to kick, and we have been riding it out without suppressive medications for weeks now. I felt that perhaps she needed a bit of help with this, and pumped some milk (which she has dubbed “my perfect milk”). I don’t suddenly want to take from Bree’s supply, and so I have only pumped and given Zoe a couple of ounces today. I thought that if I pump a little after Bree’s feedings, my milk will increase over the next couple of days, and I can give Zoe a little more each day. However, I just don’t know how much is NEEDED to help her in the first place, or if it is indeed helping at this juncture. I feel like it should help her, but I want to be sure she is actually benefiting from my doing this, as I really dislike going through these measures if there is no good cause.
